L'Aigle (Orne, France) L6 brecciated (stone) Fell 26th April 1803

This is one of the most historic meteorites - a witnessed fall in France almost 200 years ago and one which now rates alongside Ensisheim and Wold Cottage as playing a major role in the general acceptance of "stones which fall from the sky".

After the appearance of a bright fireball and loud detonations, a shower of stones fell within a 6 x 2.5 mile area of Orne in France. The many witness reports associated with this fall established beyond any doubt that strange stones do indeed fall from the sky! Being such an historic fall, L'Aigle can be a hard meteorite to find on the open market.
